MERVE'S FINAL MASK
I find many subjects in my daily life funny. That's why I designed my mouth to look like it's laughing :D Being Turkish is a huge part of my identity so I add the word "Merhaba" which means hello. I am using accessories all the time so I create a red tiara for my illustration on the mask. I like being at home with my cats so I design the curtains with a sloth that represents I tend to be lazy at home. I love traveling too and that's creating contrast in my identity so I hide the trees and the stars behind the curtains. My biggest wish is to see Northern lights since I was little so I add them on the top because I think they are part of my identity too. <3
.
We all wearing masks right now and it is hiding our identity. We wanted to design our masks to fill that gap by giving information about our identity.

Research

I wanted to create a "beard" because "ordinary" facemasks hide your beard.

Because my name is Valentine I wanted to do something romantic.

We've just used rose petals for our "dead-drop" so I used those to create a beard made of rose petals!

I started by making a "mock-up" and collect different inspirations on beard masks and petals.

In the end I really loved my facemark creation and I hope you do to!

For this mask I wanted to create something that's close to myself, my identity. Lately I spent a lot of time with my sewing-machine, making my own accessories and clothing. I wanted to use these skills in my mask.

I used the color blue because I feel connected to it.

Tough and light materials as reflection to my character.
Explanation

We would actually make two face masks. One identity mask and one for our major. This is the first draft. I tried to make an identity mask out of shopping bags.

But then we decided to make one mask, identity X major.

Final mask

I like the idea of anonymity (on social media). I try to set boundaries on who has access to my face. I'm inspired by Mous Lamrabat, Ray Fuego, A$AP ROCKY (Testing) and Maison Margiela.

Because I'm hiding a big part of me, I also want to express myself. Things not many people know about me.
